In September of 1981, I joined the U.S. Navy. In June of '82, I went on my first overseas tour. We were gone for six and a half months. I will never forget the morning that we arrived back in the States. It was about 6 o'clock in the morning, and I could just barely see land on the horizon. It was home. Tears came to my eyes at that moment. They were tears of joy. I didn't get to see as much of the world on that first cruise as I would have liked, but from what I did see, I realized that America was the best place in the world to live. Yes, it has its problems. Today, it has many more. But compared to the rest of the world, there is no other country that can stand up to what America has to offer. I will forever be grateful for that one lesson that I learned while serving this great country of ours.
On September 11, 2001, America was attacked by a group of people who do not or cannot appreciate the finer things in this country. There are three main reasons that this attack occurred. The first is our relationship with Israel. The mastermind(s) behind the attack want Israel to be completely destroyed. They will not be happy until the Jews have no homeland. The same force that is driving these terrorists is the same force that drove Hitler. It is none other than satan. Yes, he is the real reason behind these things. He thinks that if he can destroy Israel, then he can stop the second coming of Jesus. As if that's going to happen.
They also hate us because of our freedom of religion. When people are free to worship God any way they choose, they just might discover the truth about what it actually takes to get to Heaven and be converted over to serving God, which the Holy Bible teaches all men to do. This is something else that satan would like to stop. Oh, he doesn't mind if you go to church. There are plenty of churches that don't have a clue on what it takes to get to Heaven. Satan has made sure of that. Some of his greatest weapons are churches that don't preach the gospel truth. A sad fact indeed.
I found out recently that the biggest reason why we are hated by the Arab nations is because of our decadence. We claim to be a God fearing nation and yet our society is anything but God fearing. Our children are unruly. We kill millions of babies a year. Our movies and television shows are filled with almost every immoral thing under the sun. The people who control the entertainment have every intention of going even deeper into filth. Which means that if they have their way (God forbid!) what you could only see in a X-rated movie just a few years ago, will be seen on public television. No matter how you look at it, it cannot be considered a good move. Homosexuality is rampant and getting worse. Many have lost all respect for our leaders. It is one thing to disagree with a leader, but it is quite another thing to slander that same person. If you take a look at the standards taught in the Bible, the Arab nations are more in line with those standards than what we are as a whole. They are too legalistic in their approach to some of their customs. But they have a better idea of what it means to have a reverance for a "God" than what we do as a whole. Their "reverance" isn't enough to get them to Heaven, because God's Word says that there is only one way and that is through Jesus Christ.
So the next time you feel like complaining about our government, our schools, or anything else, stop! Get down on your knees and ask God to change you so that you can help change America.
